CAM is a vital component of Sun's Connected Services for Storage. Utilizing the remote connect feature within CAM provides greater value and service protection by providing a closer connection between your storage environment and Sun's Technical Service Centers.
Sun's Connected Services via CAM enables Auto Service Request (ASR) which uses fault telemetry 24/7 to automatically initiate a service request and begin the problem resolution process as soon as a hardware problem occurs. Automatic Service Request requires a one way connection via the internet and a valid warranty or support contract. Benefits include:
- No cost to enable or install for Sun storage devices under warranty or support contract
- Reduction in time-to-repair; up to 50 percent reduction in total time from service alert to completed repair with connection
- Less phone time and fewer calls lowers operational costs as diagnostics are sent electronically
- Improved device availability
