In about 15 minutes, these appliances go from power up to simple file sharing with no disruption to data environments. The Appliance Management Module provides front access LCD and keypad input, soft shutdown from the front panel, ability to set an IP address and stealth health monitoring – all designed for simplicity, ease of installation and management, saving time.

Policy-based quotas save time

Comprehensive quota support for user, group and default quotas define maximum usable storage capacity by individual user or groups/departments with soft and hard limits. This flexible, yet simple policy-based authorization helps to track changes and saves time.

SunFire X-64 server saves money

The X-64 SunFire server, integrated into the Sun StorageTek 5320 NAS Appliance, will save money from reduced power consumption.

Dual redundant RAID controllers, up to six disk expansion units with 16-drives each provide scalability to grow when it's needed, saving money. Dynamic volume expansion enables easy data volume growth without disruption of service.

The Sun StorageTek 5320 NAS Appliance uses a journaling file system with checkpoint capability. This system enhances data integrity and fast recovery. It helps to save time because data protection is fully integrated and easy to perform.

Remote file replication/data mirroring and remote monitoring help to ensure complete data and application availability for disaster recovery planning and the ability to remotely monitor system health. A clustering capability helps to provide continuous data availability. The network interface card failover function provides self-healing data availability recovery to keep the system up and running. Dual redundant battery-backed RAID controllers means write transactions will always be protected. It results in enhanced data integrity and fast recovery.

To protect data from computer viruses, the Sun StorageTek 5320 incorporates a real-time antivirus scanning feature. It scans all files for viruses in conjunction with Symantec AntiVirus Scan Engine.

Multi-protocol support saves time and money

Cross-protocol client support and management allows integrated consolidation of mixed operating environments, supporting data sharing between UNIX and Windows clients. Cross-protocol management simplifies common management for mixed operating environments, saving time. Other mapping and locking features of the Sun StorageTek 5320 provide increased and secure file sharing in multi-protocol environments.

Maximize throughput, bandwidth

Data throughput is maximized with a full 2 Gb Fibre Channel backend. It provides very fast access to data for the most demanding user requirements. Port aggregation/trunking increases bandwidth performance.

The fast checkpoint restore feature helps systems get up and running quickly. It provides for a metadata-effected restore of checkpoint files and facilitates recovery of accidentally deleted data within minutes.
