For current Sun StorageTek enterprise tape library customers, VolSafe requires no additional hardware, staff or special operating procedures. Since all the Sun StorageTek T-Series™ tape drives are VolSafe technology capable, only VolSafe media cartridges need to be purchased and additional media is not required. This reduces total cost of ownership.

Asset utilization
VolSafe media can be managed in a library concurrently with non-VolSafe media and even non-T10000, 9840 or 9940 media.
