What We're Doing
Sun is hosting events around the world where students can come out and learn about what is going on in the world of technology. Presentations and demos will be given by our resident technology geeks, as well as special guests from both inside and outside of Sun. Past Events
Web 2.0
Where: Bay Area, Ca.
The Scoop: This time around attendees learned about cool Web 2.0 technologies, as well as a cool platform to host their projects called Kenai
. Students learned how to build an iPhone app in minutes using Zembly, how to create their own Social Networking site with Project WebSynergy, and how JRuby and Glassfish can enhance their websites.
Robotics & SunSPOTs
Where: Karunya University, Coimbatore, India
The Scoop: The excitement for this event was so high that students showed up in huge numbers — 980, to be exact — along with 30 faculty members, to learn about SunSPOTs and their application with robotics. A great presentation was given by Harish Sundaram to go along with a great turnout!
Gaming
Where: Bay Area, CA. and Boston Area, MA.
The Scoop: Presentations and demos set up for students to experience Project Darkstar and Project Wonderland were pretty sweet, and showed
students how Sun is "playing" in the Gaming space. The Bay Area had a
special "surprise" guest speaker from Minor Studios, who demo'd atmosphir.com (and opened the beta up to Sun's Campers!).
Boston also enjoyed some really cool audio demos.
