Past Events
Tech Camps and WWVW
In April 2009 the Student Tech Camp program partnered with local schools and non-profit organizations for an event that spanned the country, taking place in the Bay Area, CA., San Diego, CA., Broomfield, CO., and Burlington, MA. A full day of technology enthusiasm included games and tours for the younger attendees, and sessions coupled with training for the older students. Highlights of the day included JavaFX, Alice.org, Netbeans, and SunSPOTs. Check out the quick video!
Robotics & SunSPOTs
Where: Karunya University, Coimbatore, India
The Scoop: The excitement for this event was so high that students showed up in huge numbers — 980, to be exact — along with 30 faculty members, to learn about SunSPOTs and their application with robotics. A great presentation was given by Harish Sundaram to go along with a great turnout!
Gaming
Where: Bay Area, CA. and Boston Area, MA.
The Scoop: Presentations and demos set up for students to experience Project Darkstar and Project Wonderland were pretty sweet, and showed
students how Sun is "playing" in the Gaming space. The Bay Area had a
special "surprise" guest speaker from Minor Studios, who demo'd atmosphir.com (and opened the beta up to Sun's Campers!).
Boston also enjoyed some really cool audio demos.
