Sun is continually testing and developing third party system management tools to ensure easy integration of our systems into customers' existing management environments. Some of the key system management ISV tools and their support for Sun systems is detailed below:
Sun has produced a whitepaper describes the procedures required to configure Altiris Deployment
Solution 6.8 SP2 to provisioning of Windows 2003 Server to Sun x64 servers. The
solution presented in this document requires WinPE 2005 as the automation
operating system and PXE as the boot image delivery method. Both 32-bit and 64-bit
Windows versions will be discussed.

Scalent V/OE 2.5 enables data centers to transition rapidly between different software, network, and storage access configurations – or from bare metal to live connected servers without physical intervention.
IPMItool 1.8.8 for Microsoft Windows 2003 with Sun IPMI System Management Driver Support provides the open-source IPMItool application built natively for Microsoft Windows 2003.
This version adds two interfaces to ipmitool: (1) "ms" – allows communication over the KCS interface using the IPMI driver included in
the Hardware Management add-on in the R2 Windows 2003 release.
Also provided in this release is ipmived, which can be used to receive ILOM events over the KCS interface and write them to the Windows System Event Log. Refer to the README.pdf in this distribution for information on installing and using ipmievd.
Sun IPMI System Management Driver for Server 2003 prior to R2
The Sun IPMI System Management Driver 1.1 for Microsoft Windows Server 2003 provides for communication from the Windows 2003 operating system
to the ILOM Service Processor over the KCS interface.
This driver is to be used only when R2 release for Windows 2003 SP1 or SP2 is not installed. The R2 release includes an IPMI driver as part of the Hardware Monitoring add-on that should be used instead, when available.
This driver can be used with ipmitool or ipmievd; see IPMItool 1.8.8 for Microsoft Windows 2003 entry above.
This custom mib module enables management platforms that are not IPMI
compliant to partly decode standard IPMI Platform Event Traps (PETS)
generated by an IPMI Baseboard Management Controller (BMC).
