Sun Optimized Web Stack for the Solaris OS

Sun Optimized AMP Stack for the Solaris
The Optimized Web Stack for the Solaris OS

Sun's optimized Web Stack is a collection of some of the most commonly used open source applications optimized for the robust Solaris OS, including the popular components in the AMP stack. We recompiled the open source code with specific flags for Solaris and CoolThreads processors. We also added Dtrace probes for observability. By using these binaries, users will enjoy the best levels of system performance while also reducing time to service and avoiding vendor lock-in:

  • Apache HTTPd web server
  • MySQL community database server (32 bit and 64 bit)
  • PHP scripting language and libraries
  • Perl language and extensions

Additional Open Source Web Stack Components include:

  • Lighttpd light-weight HTTP server
  • Memcached distributed object cache system
  • Ruby, Rails, and Rubygems language, framework and packaging systems
  • Apache TomCat proxy server
  • Squid web proxy server cache

Note: Support for Web Stack software is not covered by Sun support agreements associated w/ Solaris or Sun Fire servers. Support for Developers is available through the Developer Expert Assistance (DEA) program.
