Inventory Your Installed Open Source Software

OpenLogic Discovery is a free software tool that helps enterprises identify the open source software installed on Windows, Linux, and Solaris workstations and servers, in order to help enterprises manage their use of open source software and remain compliant with internal policies, regulations and software license terms.

OpenLogic Discovery can be run on enterprise workstations and servers. An easy-to-use graphical interface provides an instant inventory of individual systems. A command line interface allows enterprises to scan multiple systems remotely, without user interaction, through existing software distribution systems or software asset management systems.

Using OpenLogic Discovery users can quickly scan a computer for installed open source packages, including packages that were not explicitly installed but were bundled with other software. OpenLogic Discovery then provides a detailed inventory of the open source software identified on the system, including version numbers for each package found. Even files that have been partially installed, moved, or renamed are included in the resulting inventory list.

OpenLogic Discovery identifies software by digital fingerprints, checking the fingerprints against a library of more than 5000 versions across 900 of the most commonly used open source packages. This library is expected to grow to encompass additional packages.

You can also sign up for a free Open Source Inventory Analysis that combines and analyzes the results of OpenLogic Discovery scans for up to 500 machines.
