Sun and Voltaire

Sun's philosophy of sharing innovation and building communities is at the forefront of the next wave of computing: the Participation Age. Sun is a founder member of the InfiniBand Trade Association, and as such has built partnerships with IB technology providers, in order to deliver best-of-breed, fully integrated solutions, to their customers.

Voltaire delivers scale-out computing fabrics for data centers, high performance computing and cloud environments. Voltaire's family of server and storage fabric switches and advanced management software improve performance of mission-critical applications, increase efficiency and reduce costs through infrastructure consolidation and lower power consumption.

Alliance Overview

Voltaire and Sun worked together to certify Voltaire's product line to become "Solaris Ready". Voltaire is a Sun iForce partner, and helps Sun to provide integrated IinfiniBand solutions to their customers, via Sun's worldwide "Customer Ready Systems" teams. Voltaire and Sun worked together on the Tokyo Institute of Technology HPC project, which made #7 on the Top500 Supercomputer June, 2006 list.

HPC institutions are benefiting from the partnership. Clemson University, University of Cologne and Japan's Tokyo Institute of Technology (Tokyo Tech) have selected the Sun solution with Voltaire InfiniBand for their mission- critical applications.
