These simple rules will help you understand how Sun's Upgrade Advantage Program works.

Sun's Upgrade Allowance Program Terms

When you buy some new hardware products from Sun, you may receive an allowance for upgrading or trading in your existing hardware. This allowance may be combined with your contractual discount.

In order to receive an upgrade allowance, you must meet the following requirements:

• End User Purchasing Directly From Sun:
  • You must have owned and used the hardware that you want to upgrade or trade in for at least ninety (90) days before asking for an upgrade allowance
  • You must have purchased the hardware from Sun or a Sun authorized reseller
  • You must have the right to transfer title to the hardware that you want to upgrade or trade in
  • The configuration of the hardware that you return or trade in must the same as when the hardware was first purchased and installed
  • The new hardware must be installed at the same location as the hardware that you are returning or trading in
  • You must make the hardware that you want to upgrade or trade, and the software media and documents that were included in the original purchase, available for pickup by Sun's designated trucking company within ninety (90) days after delivery of the new hardware to you
  • The hardware that you are returning or trading in must be in good working order when it is picked up by Sun's designated trucking company
  • You must disconnect and prepare the hardware for pickup, including:
    • Removing all alterations and any confidential data from hardware.
    • Packing all associated items such as cables, logic manuals, and power cords with the hardware.
  • Sun will not accept delivery of, or provide credit for hardware returned to Sun after the 90 day return period
  
  
• Reseller:
  • If you are a reseller, you must make sure that your end user customer meets the program requirements and you must pass on the full amount of the allowance to your end user customer.

Failure to Meet Program Requirements
If you do not meet the Upgrade Allowance Program requirements, Sun will send you an invoice for, and you must pay, the amount of the upgrade allowance.

The Upgrade Allowance Program, or other Sun programs and promotions may not be available in all countries, and may be changed or cancelled at any time.
