The Sun Java System Application Server Platform Edition 9
(Application Server PE 9): Development and Deployment course provides
students with hands-on experience with the administration features of
the product. This course focuses on the following Application Server
PE 9 topics: ease of development for Java Platform Enterprise Edition
(Java EE) 5, installation and basic administration, service-oriented architecture
(SOA) features, deployment, performance, developer experience, security,
debugging, and troubleshooting features.
PLEASE NOTE: The IAS-2489 course is delivered in a one-day, workshop format (10% lecture, 90% lab). The course will present multiple lab exercises to provide students with hands-on experience using the product.

Prerequisites
To succeed fully in this course, students should:
- Have successfully completed the WMT-IAS-1499: Sun Java System Application Server Platform Edition 9: Overview course
- Be familiar with the features of Sun Java System Application Server Platform Edition 9
- Be familiar with the Solaris Operating System (Solaris OS)
- Be able to package and deploy a Java 2 Platform, Enterprise Edition (J2EE) application to an application server
- Be familiar with Internet protocols
- Be familiar with Java EE technology
- Be familiar with concepts of web services
