The Parallel Sysplex Concepts and Facilities course, which is the first two days of Parallel Sysplex Fundamentals, explains what a parallel sysplex is and why IBM introduced the concept. It examines the reasons for the perceived death of the mainframe in the early 1990Â’s and the introduction of such features as parallel sysplex and the Open Edition (now UNIX System Services) component of the operating system. This class is designed for system programmers and support staff who want to gain a clear technical insight into the workings of the parallel sysplex environment. It would be suitable for anyone else with similar needs. This class is appropriate for those who need an appreciation of what sysplex is in general terms, but perhaps don't need to know the internal details as covered in full in the Parallel Sysplex Fundamentals class.
