The Sun Cluster 3.2 Administration course provides students with the essential information and skills needed to install and administer Sun Cluster 3.2 hardware and software systems. Students are introduced to Sun Cluster hardware and software product features, hardware configuration, and software installation along with cluster configuration, data service configuration, and system operation.

 
 
Format
This course is presented using Sun's web-based Live Virtual Class (LVC). The LVC is a dynamic and fully interactive online learning environment that features live teaching collaboration, and instructor-assisted activities.

Lab Information
The hands-on online labs offered in this course involve accessing equipment through a network terminal session. Students will not have physical access to this equipment. Students will access the equipment through Sun's Remote Lab Data Center (RLDC).

Upon completion of this course, students should be able to:

  1. Describe the major Sun Cluster hardware and software components and functions
  2. Configure access to node consoles and the cluster console software
  3. Install and configure the Sun Cluster 3.2 software
  4. Configure Sun Cluster 3.2 quorum devices and device fencing
  5. Configure VERITAS Volume Manager in the Sun Cluster software environment
  6. Configure Solaris Volume Manager software in the Sun Cluster software environment
  7. Configure and use ZFS in the Sun Cluster software environment
  8. Create Internet Protocol Multipathing (IPMP) failover groups in the Sun Cluster 3.2 software environment
  9. Understand resources and resource groups, configure a failover data service resource group (Network File system [NFS], and configure a scalable data service resource group (Apache)
  10. Configure applications in Solaris 10 zones, failover ORACLE, and ORACLE Real Application Clusters (RAC) in the Sun Cluster software environment
