The Sun Secure Global Desktop Software (Secure Global Desktop)
Configuration and Administration course is for students who need to
understand the Sun Secure Global Desktop Software product and perform
routine administration tasks on a daily basis. The course covers a range
of topics selected to assist technical users in all aspects of
administering Secure Global Desktop servers. The course includes an
architectural overview, and lessons about scalability, security,
and authentication.

Upon completion of this course, students should be able to:
- Understand the Secure Global Desktop product architecture and how it
fits within an organization’s network
- Install, upgrade and license Secure Global Desktop, including its
optional components
- Log in to and log out of Secure Global Desktop, and access
applications from a webtop
- Use administration tools to make configuration changes
- Configure objects representing an organization’s applications,
documents, users, hosts, and groups in the Secure Global Desktop
system, and arrange them in an appropriate hierarchy using
organizational units
- Provide access to an organization’s Windows, UNIX, Linux, AS/400,
and Mainframe applications, including support for printing
- Determine how users are authenticated, and integrate Secure Global
Desktop with an organization’s authentication mechanisms
- Provide users with SSL-based secure connections and integrate with
an organization’s firewalls and proxy servers
- Integrate with an organization’s Lightweight Directory Access
Protocol (LDAP) based directory server
- Scale Secure Global Desktop up to support more users using arrays
