The Solaris Advanced Installation Technologies course describes the four essential installation and upgrade methods available in the Solaris 10 Operating System (Solaris 10 OS). This course provides the information required to understand and deploy these installation technologies, and benefit from the efficiencies they offer.

Who Can Benefit
Students who can benefit from this course include system administrators who intend to deploy or support JumpStart, Flash installation, WAN boot, or Live Upgrade configurations in production environments, and individuals who intend to take Part 2 of the Sun Certified System Administrator exam.
Prerequisites
To succeed fully in this course, students should be able to:
- Install and boot the Solaris 10 OS on a stand-alone workstation
- Implement basic system security
- Add software packages by using the pkgadd command
- Monitor and mount file systems
- Manage disk devices and processes
- Perform backups and restorations
Skills Gained
Upon completion of this course, students should be able to:
- Configure JumpStart installations for both SPARC and x86 platform-based clients
- Create Flash archives and perform Flash installations
- Configure WAN boot installations for SPARC platform clients
- Create alternate boot environments and perform live upgrades
