Performing System Boot Procedures provides students with information about the boot programmable read-only memory (PROM) in Sun systems. The course explains how to use basic boot PROM commands, identify the systems boot device, create and remove custom device aliases, view and change nonvolatile random access memory (NVRAM) parameters from the shell, and interrupt an unresponsive system. The course also describes run levels, service milestones and the boot process and explains how to control boot processes, start and stop services and perform shutdown procedures.
