E15 Companion Links

Definition

Used to display related links. Unlike the E0 Related component, the E15 component should contain links that are very specific to the content of the current page. It should not include a broad set of related links that apply to many pages.

Usage

Used on destination class pages, and links only to content that directly relates to the content of the page.

v0 Companion Links

This variation consists of a main title that contains "Related," such as "Related Products, " "Related Training," etc. The main title may be translated as needed. The sample shows an optional second H3 title "See Also," which can be used for links that, while still related, are more detached from the current content. In all cases, at least one large H3 title must be present in this component.

Use of H5 subtitles is optional. However, if you wish to break up sets of links, then each UL subset must have an H5 subtitle. The H5 subtitles may only be omitted when there is one UL of links under the large H3 title.

The links should be short and should link to Sun content. Third-party links are acceptable, but only under the "See Also" heading.

v1 Companion Links with Descriptive Text

This variation also consist of a main title that contains "Related," such as "Related Products, " "Related Training," etc. The main title may be translated as needed.

Use of H5 subtitles is optional. However, if you wish to break up sets of links, then each UL subset must have an H5 subtitle. The H5 subtitles may only be omitted when there is one UL of links under the large H3 title.

The links should be short and should link to Sun content, not third-party sites. In this variation, a short description is included after each link. The description should be concise and to the point. If a description is not needed for some of the links, it may be omitted. However, when using this variation, it is best to add descriptions to ALL of the links. If there are only one or two items with descriptions, use variation 0 instead.

v2 x4 Secondary Nav Links & Title w/ icon

H5 titles may use the "iconleft" and icon classes to assign icons to the title that represent the entire list of links. Such as this example indicating all links are privileged content.

v2 x5 Secondary Nav Links w/ icons

The icon classes can also be assigned to the list of links as well. In these cases do not make all the icons the same, since if they are all the same you should add the icon to the H5 only. When adding icons all you need to do is add the icons class to the UL and add the varios icon classes to the LI objects to assign icons. See the pc08v7 for more examples of the icon classes used in a list context.

For a better visual impact, try to keep the number of icons to a minimum. The more there are the harder it is for them to stand out.
