Usage

  • A form may be in an editable state where users are allowed to manipulate certain elements. These are generally used to gather information from the user.
  • An example of a non-editable form would be a Confirmation Form. These should mimic the layout of the forms they are based on exactly.
  • Required information is illustrated by using the "required" class in the label TD.
  • All Form elements are left aligned.
  • Most form field labels will easily fit within the minimum width cell but when longer labels are present, the entire label column expands to accomodate the longest label (with 10 pixel padding).
  • From buttons are left aligned to the Text Entry Fields not the labels. This is so all interactive elements are grouped together for the user.

v0 Form (EOLed)

There are four columns in the form table:

  1. This is for the field label. Make your labels short and to the point, do NOT make all the labels questions. Labels as questions are only appropiate when the field is a yes and no set of radio buttons or something similar. Use the LABEL tag to help identify a given label with the field it represents. See the components for examples of how this works. Any labels that are required should get the required class added to the label's table cell.
  2. This is for the field the LABEL refers too. This can be an INPUT field, checkbox, radio button, a TEXTAREA or a SELECT menu or list. If the field is long like a SELECT menu, and there is no content in the next column then you can use COLSPAN="2" to take advantage of the extra space.
  3. The last column is an optional space that allows for notes or instructions for a given field.

If BOTH of the nav columns are full with other components and the i07 cannot be placed at the top of the left or right nav, then the privacy statement should be used as shown. If there is room in the side nav, then the privacy statement rows can be removed and the i07 Privacy Statement component can be used in the upper left or right nav columns.

Various elements in this component have the class "error" assigned to them. This should be used when a user has not filled the correct information and you wish to illustrate what information still needs to be entered. Do NOT just copy/paste this code and neglect to remove the error classes for you default form.

The paragraph at the top of the table with the error message should only be used when you need to communicate what error the user has made.
